Saline implants come in different shapes and sizes, with a silicone rubber shell that is either pre-filled with a certain amount of saline solution or is filled during the surgical procedure.
Although saline and silicone are both quite popular, many people feel that the silicone variety offer a more natural feel, as it mimics the feel of real breast tissue. Saline implants are also more likely to cause wrinkling and leak.
On the positive side, capsular contracture, or scar tissue formation, is less likely after breast augmentation surgery with saline breast implants, and a saline leak is less harmful to the body than a silicone leak.

There are alternatives to implant surgery for those not willing to risk the health complications, pay the high costs or risk having undesirable results. Natural breast enlargement is becoming quite popular these days, with more scientific evidence mounting as to the effectiveness of herbal supplements for enhancing bust size. Although more tests need to be conducted, so far the results are promising.
